India launched Chandrayaan 3 mission successfully today. Chandrayaan which means “moon Vehicle” was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
If Chandrayaan 3 mission becomes successful, India will become the fourth country to execute a controlled landing on the moon.
Developed by ISRO, Chandrayaan -3 consists of Lander, rover, and Propulsion module. Chandrayaan-3 is expected to land on the moon on August 23.
In 2019, ISRO launched Chandrayaan-2 but it was a failure. It was the second mission to the moon with a total cost of Rs 978 crores.
If Chandrayaan-3 lands successfully on the moon, then India will join the bandwagon of soft-landing on the moon along with the USA, Russia, and China.
